Tesco Express opening – photos
Website updated
A quick apology to anybody who has had problems with this site in the run up to Christmas. This was caused by a failed automatic update that resulted in the need for a manual update of the entire system. I took advantage of the Christmas break to complete this work and everything should now be hunky-dory.

Every Little Helps Ipswich Disabled Advice Bureau
A new supermarket opening in Ipswich next month will celebrate its launch with a donation to the Ipswich Disabled Advice Bureau.
Bureau Manager, Pat Ramsey, Chairman, David Robinson and Vice Chairman, John Le Grys from the Ipswich Disabled Advice Bureau, will be the guests of honour when the new Tesco Express store opens, on Tuesday 3rd December on Norwich Road. They will be invited to cut a ribbon to declare the new store officially open.
Store manager, Robin Williams and his team will present Pat, David and John with a cheque for £500 as part of its commitment to supporting the local community.
The Ipswich Disabled Advice Bureau was founded in 1973 and this year is celebrating 40 years of working to support local people with any form of disability. The charity also provides vital help for their carers, families and others in related fields, who live in Ipswich and surrounding area. The Bureau provides services such as free and confidential advice, information and advocacy.
Tesco Express store manager, Robin said: “We are delighted to be able to support the Ipswich Disabled Advice Bureau, as they do such wonderful work for the local community. We are really pleased that Pat, David and John are coming to launch the new store and join in the celebrations with us.
“My team and I are looking forward to welcoming our customers into the new store and we hope that Tesco will become a key part of the local community.”
The doors of the new Tesco Express on Norwich Road open for the first time at 8am on Tuesday 3rd December, with the official opening ceremony and cheque presentation taking place later that morning at 10.30am.
Store opening hours will be seven days a week from 6am until 11pm, and for added convenience the store will have a free cash machine, self-service tills, mobile phone top-up facility and bakery. In addition to beers, wines, spirits and free customer parking.
There will also be a Click and Collect service where customers can order online from Tesco Direct, and pick up in store – everything from buggies to bikes.

Power Cuts
Given the importance of our previous news post on power cuts we have added the post as a web page; a link to which can be found on the advice drop down menu.
UK Power Networks is the company that looks after our electricity supply cables and has to go out and repair them when something goes wrong. They are concerned that people who are vulnerable during a power cut get the help they need. Examples include people who are dependent on electricity for medical equipment such as oxygen, nebulisers, dialysis, sleep apnoea, hoists, stair lifts or have medication that needs to be kept in a fridge. Also, people who have chronic health problems, mobility problems and other disabilities or who are frail.
These people need to join the Priority Customer Register and Ipswich DAB has the registration forms. You can also join by e-mail: prs@ukpowernetworks.co.uk or by telephone: 0800 169 9970
