Important Information – Planned Power Cuts

It is unlikely, but there could be some emergency planned power cuts this winter.

There will be an announcement by the government before they happen

They will last for three hours each time.

During the power cut a gas boiler, heat pump, broadband and landline phone will not work. So ….keep your mobile phone with you and fully charged.

Every household will be a part of an area which will be identified by a block letter. You can find your block letter you can phone 105, or visit:

https://www.powercut105.com/

They will affect medical equipment – stair lifts, dialysis equipment, hoists, special mattresses, and other items as well as leave you without a working fridge, heating, and light.

Do speak to your GP/NHS to make a personal backup plan for what to do during the power cut, should this happen, if you have not got a plan already.

If UK Power Networks are your electricity supplier, and you have not already signed up for the Priority Service Register for UK Power Networks, you need to do so, to make them aware that you are a vulnerable person.

You can do this by phone: 0800 169 9970,
or by email at:- psr@ukpowernetworks.co.uk

FUEL VOUCHERS

Every household will receive £400 between October 2022 and March 2023 to help with their energy bills. This will be done by reducing everyone’s energy bill (electricity, gas or both) by £66 each month during that period.

It is very important that people who use a prepayment meter that is not a SMART meter, be aware that the £66 will be sent to you as vouchers each month between October 2022 and March 2023.

If you have not received these vouchers for October, November, and December, you should contact your energy provider – EON, EDF, SSE, etc – and tell them.

When you receive the vouchers you need to take them to the ‘PayPoint‘ that, you normally use, when you next top up your prepayment card, and the vouchers will be loaded onto your card.
